The Eclipse Foundation is pleased to announce the availability of Eclipse SDK 4.0, the next generation Eclipse platform. Eclipse has a very large and successful ecosystem of plugin providers and RCP application developers. Eclipse 4.0 introduces new features that make it easier for the members of the ecosystem to build and assemble Eclipse plugins and RCP applications.

Bredex, MicroDoc and the Eclipse Foundation are pleased to announce Eclipse Testing Day in Darmstadt, which takes place September 8, 2010. Eclipse Testing Day is a day-long event for technical developers, testers, architects and managers to learn more about testing with Eclipse and OSGi technology.

The ESE Program Committee will select five early-bird talks from those submitted by August 2, 2010. Winners will be announced August 9, and receive a free ESE T-shirt.

A reminder that on Monday, June 28, the Eclipse Foundation is presenting Helios In Action, Part 2 - a virtual conference where you can interact with project leads involved in the release and see demos of the new features. The annual simultaneous release has now grown to 39 projects with over 33 million lines of code, contributed by committers around the world. Come celebrate the Helios release with other members of the Eclipse community at DemoCamps around the world until July 14. DemoCamps are a great way to learn about new Eclipse technology and meet new people. Events taking place July 5-14 are:

Today the Eclipse community delivers its annual release train, a coordinated release of the major Eclipse projects. For the seventh year in a row, the 2010 release train, code named Helios, arrives on time and is now available for download.

We are pleased to announce the Eclipse Day at the Googleplex, being held on August 26 at the Googleplex in Mountain View CA. Each year we put together an agenda the includes Eclipse and Google related topics. This year we are featuring talks about Android, Helios, GWT, EGit, Linux Tools, Eclipse 4.0, EMF, XText and much more. It is shaping up to be another great agenda.

We want to hear what you think of the Eclipse projects that are being released as part of Helios. We will give you a an Eclipse shirt for writing a review. One lucky winner will also win a pass to EclipseCon 2011 or Eclipse Summit Europe 2010!

MicroDoc and the Eclipse Foundation are pleased to announce Eclipse Embedded Day in Stuttgart, which takes place June 24, 2010.

Eclipse Embedded Day is a day-long event for senior technical developers, architects and technical managers in the automotive, consumer electronic, medical, mobile and telematics industries to learn how to better leverage Eclipse technology and the Eclipse community as part of their development strategy.

The Eclipse Helios RC3 Packages are now available for download and testing. Please help the community by providing testing feedback on your favourite package. Final Helios release will be available June 23, 2010.

The Eclipse Summit Europe (ESE) 2010 call for participation is now open. ESE 2010 will take place November 2-4, 2010 in Ludwigsburg, Germany. Deadline for submissions is August 16, 2010.

To celebrate the upcoming Helios release, the Eclipse Foundation has launched a new campaign to recruit 360 new Friends of Eclipse. Please consider joining now and help support the Eclipse community.

The Eclipse Foundation, in collaboration with Google, is pleased to announce Eclipse Labs, a new place to host open source projects based on Eclipse. Eclipse Labs provides the infrastructure services typically required by open source projects, such as code repositories, bug tracking, project web sites/wiki. This new service is hosted by Project Hosting on Google Code, so it will be very familiar to developers already using Google Code Project Hosting. More details available here and Eclipse Labs FAQ

This is the last week for indiviuals to complete the Eclipse Community Survey 2010. Let us know how you are using Eclipse and develop software. The deadline to complete the survey is Friday, May 14, 2010.

Members of the Eclipse community will be celebrating the Helios release at DemoCamps around the world from the last week of May until June 30. Typically a DemoCamp consists of a series of short demos and presentations from developers building new and interesting solutions with Eclipse. It is a great way to discover and learn about new Eclipse technology. There is also lots of time for informal conversation and networking, so DemoCamps are a great way to connect with colleagues and friends.

The Eclipse Foundation is pleased to announce the creation of a new SOA Industry Working Group. The working group is a collaboration of industry players, including Engineering Group, itemis, Obeo and Sopera.

Eclipse Banking Day in Copenhagen is being held in Denmark on June 1, 2010. This full-day event will provide an opportunity for senior technical developers, architects and managers in the finance industry to learn how to better leverage Eclipse technology and the Eclipse community as part of their development strategy. Eclipse experts and leading financial institutions such as Danske Bank, JP Morgan and Nordea will present what work they are doing with Eclipse.
