Before you can implement any information-centric project like archiving,
data privacy, master data management (MDM), data warehousing, data lineage, or
application data consolidation, you have to know what data you have, where it
is located, and how it is related between systems. For most organizations, the
data discovery and analysis process is very manual, requiring months of human
involvement to discover business objects, sensitive data, cross-source data
relationships, and transformation logic. In this article, learn how IBM
InfoSphere Discovery provides sophisticated analysis to automate the analysis
process and generate actionable results.

The new IBM InfoSphere Streams transport that uses IBM WebSphere MQ Low
Latency Messaging provides access to InfiniBand communication links. These
offer much higher throughput than, for example, 1Gb ethernet, but this higher
throughput is not always achieved in practice, for a variety of reasons. I set
out to explore what performance was actually available on InfiniBand when
using InfoSphere Streams, and what improvements in performance could be
achieved through tuning of the application, WebSphere MQ Low Latency
Messaging, and the system. In the process of performing numerous experiments
with different configurations and other tuning adjustments, I found that
throughput could be increased more than 10 fold under some circumstances.

New capabilities in Fix Pack 3 of IBM Optim(TM) Development Studio and
pureQuery Runtime 2.2 provide significant enhancements in security, control,
and maintenance for database administrators who use pureQuery client
optimization to improve security, stability, and performance of Java database
applications. The enhancements are based on a new central repository for
storing pureQuery metadata and properties. This article uses a scenario to
illustrate some of the new capabilities made possible with Fix Pack 3.

This article shows you how to develop Java components for the FileNet
Component Integrator.
The Component Integrator is part of the IBM FileNet Process Engine.
It enables you to call functions of a custom Java class from a component step within a workflow.
The article describes
how to obtain sessions, debug your Java code, and build and configure a custom JAAS login module for database connectivity.

This document demonstrates how to install the Controller 8.5 client on an end-user's PC, inside a typical environment. By following these "best practices" the intention is to make client deployment as easy as possible, with the minimum of errors or issues. Later, this document gives best practices for Citrix server client installation.

If you are a developer, DBA, or query tuning specialist, it is critical that
you understand the basics of access
paths so that you can precisely tune queries and query workloads before they cause
problems in your production environment.
This basic
understanding, coupled with the visualization and tuning advice provided by IBM Optim query tuning solutions, can help make you more
efficient at this task.
This article provides conceptual background on access paths, shows you how to read an access path graph,
and walks through the access path graph to demonstrate critical information regarding access path selection.
The article
concludes with a sample scenario that demonstrates how to use query annotation, a feature in Optim Query Tuner that
helps you with query analysis by providing vital statistical information
directly in the SQL statement.

DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows V9.7 introduced several major table partitioning enhancements,
including partitioned indexes (also called local indexes), integration with XML, online roll-out using DETACH,
and support for data and index REORG at the partition level. This article discusses the applications of these
features in a data warehouse environment and demonstrates how data roll-in using ATTACH can be orders-of-magnitude
faster, while reducing the active log space consumed by leveraging partitioned indexes. The article also
includes a section on some commonly asked questions related to table partitioning.

DB2 Text Search enables full-text search on structured and unstructured
data stored in a DB2(R) database. It uses linguistic processing to determine
the result set of a full-text search query. This article provides an overview
of the document analysis process and the treatment of various linguistic
properties for text index updates, as well as an introduction to some
intricacies of query syntax and semantics and their impact on query execution
results.

In this article, learn how Apache Struts 2 can help you handle dynamic
data for your Web-based applications. Walk through a few of the most common
use cases with examples and sample code. Explore how the powerful Action,
Interceptor, and Results features help you set up UI fields with database
data. Also learn about modularizing the
application by setting the data value when the application loads from a list
of values and about pre-filling fields with the desired data.

IBM Data Studio and Optim(TM) Development Studio are related products in the
Optim portfolio of integrated data management tools. Although there has been
much published on the usage of these tools, little information focuses on using these two products when accessing DB2(R) for
z/OS(R) databases. This article answers commonly asked
questions and describes best practices that one of our authors developed
as a result of her work with customer questions and problem records.
